Thought Apparat Was Said And Done? Think Again.

Sascha will soon be showcasing these new journeys all over Europe. Come see!

Say you were to call a long lost friend out of the blue tomorrow, someone you haven’t spoken to in say, 5 or 6 years. Without a doubt, it’d be a thrilling conversation.

It’s this kind of excitement I felt after hearing that following a 6-year hiatus Apparat AKA ⅓ of Moderat AKA Sascha Ring was returning with a full-length studio album ‘LP5’ + an accompanying LIVE tour. It’s this kind of news that’d make you want to stay on the line.

In the early 2000s, Ring focused mostly on obscure dance records. Before long, he’d forged the mighty trio Moderat, with Modeselektor duo — Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, making sounds that hundreds of thousands quickly fell in love with. I mean we all know how class they are…if you don’t. Get learned!

Over his time, Apparat’s productions have also landed in a bunch of film and television, including Skins, Annihilation and Breaking Bad.

That was then and this is now. Apparat has told fans that without the collaborative success of Moderat, he wouldn't have been able to return to his solo project.

“Having a huge stage with Moderat gave me a setting for grand gestures and meant I could unburden Apparat from these aspirations”, Ring explains. “I don’t have to write big pop hymns here; I can just immerse myself in the details and the structures.” — Sascha Ring, 2019

Sascha’s new work sees him collaborating with a team of musicians. One being Philipp Thimm (a highly sought after cellist) along with trombonists, saxophonists, harp and double-bass players.

‘LP5’ is that dish at a superbly ritzy restaurant. There’s a tonne of flavours you know and love mixed in with a few that have never hit your tastebuds and they’re all damn scrumptious.

The feature track ‘DAWAN’ is a magic carpet ride, a signpost for Apparat’s gift as a producer. Throwing synths, vocals and sharp drumrolls into a mortar and pestle, Ring grinds out a clinic in electronic music. If you’ve ever heard the glorious effort ‘Weird Fishes’ from Radiohead, then this will be right up your alley.
