The prelude: Inside Draaimolen’s opening concert at 013

Draaimolen has built its reputation on a refusal to play it safe. Long before the main gates open and the forest paths fill, the Tilburg festival sets its intention in the dark. Taking over venue 013, the opening concert operates as a high-concept precursor to the weekend, replacing the standard club warm-up with three uncompromising world premieres.

Conceived specifically for this night, each performance pairs deep sound design with custom visual artistry, testing the limits of 013’s room acoustics:

  • Efdemin: The Dial and Ostgut Ton veteran debuts a site-specific audiovisual work, translating his patient, cerebral techno into a stark visual landscape.

  • GiGi FM & Vincent Rang: An interdisciplinary meeting of minds, combining GiGi FM’s fluid, spatial frequencies with Vincent Rang’s organic, video-sculpted projections.

  • Legowelt as Zorlok Compressor: Danny Wolfers unveils a brand-new alias, bringing a rare, hardware-heavy live iteration of synth-driven hypnotism to the stage.

Take a look inside the studio as Danny Wolfers constructs every visual and synthesiser patch for his debut as Zorlok Compressor.

Dark, immersive, and intentionally intense, the evening establishes the sonic baseline for everything that follows across the festival grounds. With capacity inside 013 strictly capped, this stands as the weekend’s most concentrated room run.

Tickets for the opening concert on September 3rd are available via the Draaimolen website.
